OVERDRAFT CHOICES

First State offers several overdraft choices for its checking account customers.

At times, unexpected expenses or unforeseen problems can leave you with too little cash in your checking account. Having a check returned due to insufficient funds can be a costly, inconvenient, and potentially embarrassing experience. Overdrafts can happen when you don't have the necessary Available Balance in your account to cover your ATM withdrawals, debit card purchases, checks, automated bill payments or other withdrawals.

At First State, we do not encourage overdrafts. As always, we encourage you to manage your finances responsibly. However, we want to save you from the additional merchant fees and possible damage to your credit history that might result if a check is returned.

That's why we provide several options for our checking account customers to help them manage their accounts.

Sweep Account
Automatically transfers funds from your checking, savings, or line of credit before it becomes overdrawn.
Overdraft Privilege for ATM & Everyday Debit Card Transactions

In General, overdraft fees may be imposed for ATM withdrawals, debit card purchases, checks, automated bill payments or other withdrawals.

1 We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. Examples of when an overdraft may not be paid are when an account is not in good standing or when the overdraft amount is excessive.

2 Subject to approval

3 We will limit the number of Overdraft fee charges to four (4) per day.

4 You should make every attempt to bring your account to a positive balance as soon as possible. If you are not able to bring your account to a positive balance within 30 days, your overdraft limit may be reduced to a zero dollar amount.
